Acupressure is a traditional Chinese healing method based on the use of gentle pressure with the fingers or the hand on acupressure points of the body. Acupressure points are believed to unblock the flow of Qi to release tension of the inner harmony. Here are some DIY acupressure points may help reduce stress and invoke feeling of relaxation.
*內關 P-6 “Neiguan”: Regulate the Heart and clams the spirit. Harmonies the Stomach and alleviates nausea and vomiting.
Location: Starting from the wrist, measure down with three fingers as shown in the picture. Where your third finger touches the middle of your wrist is the P-6 acupoint.
**Self-Care acupressure regimen: Perform this on both side alternately, use thumb: medium pressure for 2 minutes.**
*神門HE-7 “Shenmen”: The principal Heart Channel point to regulate the spirit: insomnia, poor memory, fright palpitation, pounding of the Heart and relieving tension.
Location: Apply pressure with your thumb at the point where your wrist forms a crease with your hand.
**Self-Care acupressure regimen: Applying a generous amount of pressure, Hold the acupressure point for about 2-minutes.
*涌泉 KID-1 “Younguan”:Great point for anxiety and relaxation. Calms the spirit: agitation, insomnia, dizziness, and propensity to fear. *For a good night’s sleep*
Location: In a sitting position, cross one leg over your opposite leg and rest your leg on your knee. On the sole of the foot, between second and third toes and draw a straight line down until you are about a 1/3 of the way down the foot.
**Self-Care acupressure regimen: Use thumbs, hold this acupressure point with firm pressure for at least 2 minutes and repeat on the other foot.
